My best-selling book, probably since inception of me as an author, is my Turtle Trader book.

The story about the students, the trader students that won Richard Dennis and two Bill Eckhart trained to become trend following traders.

For those of you not familiar, a famous story, rich guy, early 80s, says, I can teach people to do what I do.

Put an ad in the paper, hires a bunch of trainees, gives them rules, stakes them with capital.

Four years later, the group of 20 students makes a hundred million dollars profit.

It was a very secretive training experiment for a long time.

After it was over, many of these students nicknamed the turtles,

went on to become hedge fund managers. The biggest, most successful of all of them,

a guy who has appeared in this podcast many times is Jerry Parker. This is just a fabulous story because you're taking essentially

people with very little experience, off the street, so to speak, and given rules to trade

from the masters, from two of the best traders on the planet at the time.

And as long as these students followed the rules, they were successful.

The facts, the truth of that, it's incontrovertible.

The evidence is in.

And as I make the case in my book, and I'll make the case now, it's a great example of nurture trumping nature.

Now that end of itself is controversial.

Some people will make the argument, but Mike, they selected only smart people.

Let's talk about that. That's probably 100% true.

And let's take a step back and speak about basic intelligence.

So far, in our very diverse world, we have developed a tool to measure intelligence.

It's called the IQ test, determining IQ.

And there is no shortage of data from university professors, researchers, etc., laying down the connection between IQ and success.
