0:36.8	the ifb movement and those are men like Lester Roloff,
0:41.4	like J. Frank Norris, like Jack Hiles. Today we're talking about one of those guys. The guy we're
0:45.2	talking about is John R. Rice. And we're going to be covering him over two episodes, because
0:51.2	there is just a lot to talk about with John R. Rice. I wasn't raised with a
0:58.0	familiarity with his life story, the way that I was raised with a familiarity with Jack Hiles' life
1:03.7	story, for example. I knew he was important, but I wasn't really taught why he was important.
1:09.7	And in doing research for this episode,
1:11.6	I found that he is absolutely crucial in the connections between the IFB and more modern evangelical
1:21.3	preachers like Jerry Falwell or Billy Graham. And he is also a key part of the split between modern evangelicals and IFB and other
1:32.3	fundamentalists.
1:33.9	So hugely historically important person, and I'm really excited to talk about him over
1:39.1	these two episodes.
1:40.3	Yeah, the thing that I remember from when we had that episode about David Hiles,
1:45.6	I was listening to episodes of David Baker's podcast, the Fundamental Baptist podcast as
1:52.6	like preparation for that episode.
1:54.1	And during the like the intro to that podcast is we were like, well, it used to be that
2:00.4	when you said you were Baptist, you were a
2:02.3	fundamentalist, but that's not true anymore. And blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And things got bad.
