Hi, everybody. Welcome to The Tom Wood Show, Episode 2386.

I'm delighted to be joined by John Lott, whom you may know for his,

particularly notorious book, More Guns Less Crime,

but his ongoing work at the Crime Prevention Research Center

of which he is founder and president is extremely important and very, very valuable,

particularly because so much of the anti-gun propaganda can seem on the surface of it plausible enough.

Some of the claims they make seem to the average person to be plausible enough.

What's the problem with universal background checks? Doesn't that seem like a reasonable restriction?

And so often, as with the economy, policies that on the surface of them seem like they might

do some good actually wind up doing more or less the opposite of what people might think.

And John Lott has been tirelessly pointing this out for quite some time.

Thanks for having me. All right, let's talk a little bit about Joe Biden here,

because he made a statement on Twitter the other day that put me in mind of something Thomas

Sol once said that you can, it's easy, especially as a progressive to utter a sentence or two

that would take paragraphs to refute. And likewise, every Joe Biden tweet,

you could have a book length refutation if you so chose.

So one of the things he did was to say, I've banned assault weapons before and I'll do it again.
