And I'm Bryce.

And today we're covering Ether chapters 1 through 6.

Now I know, and come follow me, it's covering Ether 1 through 5, but Bryce and I talked about it,

and we thought that maybe covering Ether 1 through 6 would be a better overview for what we're talking about here in this podcast. Now, to give you a little bit of

background about the book of Ether, this is a text that Moronite comes across and realizes that

he wants to put in the Book of Mormon. Big picture, the book of ether, is kind of like a miniature version of the book of

Mormon.

It's a story of a group of people that come from the ancient world, from the old world,

to the Americas, their civilization becomes great, and then eventually collapses.

And the story in the book of ether takes place pretty much all of it before Lehi

comes to the Americas.

So if you remember, Lehii comes to the Americas in 600 BC, by the time he gets here, the

people of Ether, the Jaredites, their civilization has collapsed. And so Moroni includes

this at the end of the Book of Mormon. And in my mind's eye, I see him including it because he is

just witnessed the collapse of the Nephite civilization. So the book of ether is like the Book of Mormon

in miniature.
