So July 4th is the anniversary of the

founding of the United States, July 4th 1776. I could truly speak the entire fireside chat about America its values, its distinctiveness.

So I'll be concise, but I have a lot to say.

The United States became the freest country in the history of the world and this was almost universally acknowledged that this was the case.

That's why the French gave the United States of America the Statue of Liberty,

the famous Statue of Liberty.

The French did not keep it in France. They didn't give it to another country. They gave it to the

United States of America for good reason. This is the country that when people would often they would make a revolt or at least even just a demonstration on behalf of being free.

They would often waive the American flag like they did in Hong Kong

before the Chinese government suppressed all freedom in one of the freest places in the world,

It's a tragedy, what's happened to Hong Kong.

But they waived the American flag.

These were Chinese people. I don't know if any of them knew English, but it didn't matter.
