1:08.0 | At the end of the day, join our book club, which is software.com hyphen book club, okay, so come find that. And then without further ado, I do have a book here, it's called Andron right here, and it's written by Dwayne Whirl, who is the author, director, writer, filmmaker, |
1:26.0 | Hollywood, Dwayne, welcome to software radio. |
1:29.0 | It's great to be here, man, I appreciate you having me. |
1:32.0 | Yes, you know, Dwayne, I just want to read a little bit about your book. First of all, let's read a little bit about Dwayne, okay, let me just tell you what they want me to tell you about Dwayne. |
1:40.0 | All right, here we go. So Dwayne Whirl is a filmmaker, traveler, a novelist, a Caribbean native, who re-subtle the US in the 90s. Dwayne currently resides in LA, where he works as a film and television writer and producer. |
1:53.0 | His writing credits include Marvel's Iron Fist, CBS's Fire Country, Amazon Studios The Wall, and the Disney Plus series National Treasure, among others. |
2:03.0 | So that's who we're talking to today. We're talking to Dwayne. He loves to use his imagination. He likes to put it on paper. And I want to hear more about how Andron and the special operation community come together. So welcome, welcome Dwayne. |
2:18.0 | Thank you, man. Again, I really appreciate you having me. It's great to be here. Great to talk to you guys. And yeah, Andron was something that, you know, a film it started as in my mind, something that I wanted to produce on film and have the movie. |
2:35.0 | I love science fiction. I love military stories. So I sort of took the tooth and I put them together and I wanted to create this story about a near future world where drones aren't just operated in the sky. |
2:52.0 | They're operated on the water, underwater, on land, bipedal, quadrupedal, four legs, two legs, whatever type of service they can provide, we create them. So we have all these different types of drones. And the story is about a drone pilot, Andron pilot. |
3:11.0 | And Andron's are bipedal built in our image machines, about seven eight feet tall, powerful human life tanks. And it's about drone pilots who pilots these machines. And he discovers something, which is a spoiler. So I won't say what he discovers. Yeah, right. No, there's so many. |
3:35.0 | But he discovers something and it changes everything about his goals in the military, his personal life, everything changes when he discovers this. Yeah, it was just a really interesting story. And I want to tell. So in Hollywood, when you're trying to tell certain stories, they say, no, we want to do superhero movies. |
3:59.0 | So I figured, you know, it's going to be very challenging to get it done as a film. So I decided to write it as book and now it's in your hands and hopefully everyone else's hands very soon. |
4:10.0 | Exactly. It will be out on bookshelves and everywhere that you can check out this book, Andron, once it's released, it'll probably be at the airport. If you're going through L.A.X. or Burbank or Provo Airport here in Salt Lake City, you can just, you never know these authors, they travel and do these junkets and these book shows. |
4:27.0 | You just never know if the book you're looking at is signed by the author who just sneaks in there and says, you know, I'm going to sign this for you. |
4:34.0 | Right behind you as you pick up the book at the airport. So you're just like looking over the shoulder with a can of fringles for the flight. Like, is he picking up my book? Please pick up my book. |
4:46.0 | I'll probably make a comment or two like, no, I've read that one. That's pretty good. Oh, you know, that's good. I won't give you spoilers, but chapter seven. Let me tell you. |
4:56.0 | I do like, let me tell you about Andron. So I'm six foot five and I just got down to 276 pounds from 293. So I'm a big dude. |
