This is episode one of the Doctrine and Covenants.

I want to start off first things first.

A little bit of housekeeping, should we say? A lot of times we like to call the

doctrine and covenants, the D&C, and we'll say in D&C 3, blah, blah, blah. And I want us to try

this year to get away from doing that. Simply because it was brought to my attention one time

by a woman who had miscarried and lost a baby.

And if you know when you lose a baby and you go to the hospital and they have to remove that

pregnancy, it's called a D&C. And so sometimes when you say that, you inadvertently bring some

painful feelings to women that have

had this unfortunate situation. So if we can try to remember to just call it the doctrine and

covenants instead of giving that abbreviation in church or wherever we may be talking about it,

it's just a sensitive way to go. All right. What is your plan for this year? What are you going to do?

Because last year studying the Book of Mormon changed us. I think last year was such a special,

important year and I loved studying the Book of Mormon every day for Come Follow Me. But now we're

moving along to the Doctrine and Covenants and

my question is, what are you going to do? How are you going to study this year? And I want to make

one important clarification. We have been told over and over so many amazing things about the

Book of Mormon and the power that's in the book of Mormon.

And I really feel that we need to remember to continue to read the book of Mormon every day.

That needs to be our number one priority.
