For years, Star Trek fans have asked, who exactly is this character Q? And how can he do all

the stuff he does?

Personally, I've always asked myself that same question about John Delancey, the actor who plays Q.

John has worked in theater, film, or television non-stop since graduating from Juilliard,

except, of course, when he's captaining his sailboat across the Pacific Ocean.

You know, the first time I met John on set,

he was working hard to memorize these huge monologues for Q's courtroom scene.

He was hoping he and Patrick might improvise a bit.

Didn't happen.

A few years later, when shooting the boardroom scene for the film Taking Care of Business, directed by Arthur Hiller, I get to the set, look up, and there's John Delancey at the boardroom scene for the film taking care of business directed by Arthur Hiller,
