This is Come Follow Me for Us, Hybrid. A little bit of old, a little bit of new because yeah, I said it and it was good.

And as always, I'm your host Melanie Stroud. This is season five of episode 13, Matthew 14, Mark 6, John 5 through 6, be not afraid.

I want to just start off again by saying thank you, thank you, thank you for buying the books for writing the reviews on Amazon. It means so much. If I get enough reviews the first month, it really helps propel it forward. I guess I don't know how to do books, but that's exciting. So thank you for not only buying it, but for leaving the reviews and for sharing it with your friends and whatever else. It's made me very happy. And I will say that I will turn in the audible.

And I will say that this week, so hopefully in the next few weeks, it will get approved and be out. So I'll let you know when that happens. Hopefully if you went over to Melanie, W Stroud.com and signed up for the email list, you'll just get an email that says, yay, the audible is out. And maybe you won't because it's not working quite right. So I don't know, I'm working on it. Technology is hard.

It's a lesson from 2019, of course, with a little bit of 2023 mixed in.

Deedle dee.

Okay, guys, this lesson is good. And the thing that's so good is the manual. Can we talk for a minute about, come follow me. It's so great. I love these lessons. And even the way the manual's written is so beautiful. So listen to this.

1:46.0

The title of this lesson is Be Not Afraid. And this is what it says in the beginning, it said, what could have inspired Peter to leave the safety of his boat in the middle of the sea of Galilee during a boisterous storm.

1:59.0

What led him to believe that if Jesus could walk on water, he could too. And this is the best sentence. We can't know for certain, but perhaps Peter understood that the son of God came not just to do wonderful things for the people,

2:14.0

but to empower the people like Peter to do wonderful things too. Is that so beautiful? Perhaps Peter understood that Jesus came not just to do good things for everybody, but to show us we could do wonderful things too.

2:31.0

It continues, Jesus's invitation after all was come follow me. Peter had accepted this invitation once and he was willing to accept it again, even if it meant facing his fears and doing something that seemed impossible. Perhaps the Lord will not ask us to step out of a boat in the middle of a storm or contribute Armageddon supply of bread when thousands need to eat, but he may ask us to accept directions even when we don't fully understand them.

2:59.0

Whatever his invitations to us may be, they may sometimes seem surprising or even frightening, but miracles can happen if we, like Peter, will set aside our fears, our doubts, and our limited understanding and follow him in faith.

3:15.0

We could just read that opening paragraph and go home because it's so beautiful, but let's learn a little bit more about these things.

3:23.0

Okay, the first section is John 517 through 47. Jesus Christ honors his father. The relationship between Heavenly Father and each of his children is meant to be a sacred one. In these verses, Jesus Christ gave us an inspiring model to follow in our relationship with Heavenly Father.

3:43.0

And then ask a couple questions, but the one I want to talk about says, how can strengthening your relationship with Heavenly Father increase your willingness to seek and obey his will?

3:54.0

So let's get reading in John chapter 5 verse 19. It says, then answered Jesus and said unto them, barely, barely, I say unto you, the sun can do nothing of himself, but what he see if the father do.

4:08.0

For what things, so ever he do it, these also do it the sun likewise for the father love it the sun and she with him all things that himself do it.

4:18.0

And he will show him greater works than these that you may marvel. And I read that and I think, you know, he's saying, hey, I'm just doing what Heavenly Father would do if he was here.

4:30.0

And just showing you the things that he does. And if you think these are great works, you should see what he can do. And I think he's like, you think I'm great. You should see my dad.

4:40.0

When God the father and Jesus Christ came to Joe Smith, Heavenly Father said to Joseph Smith, look at my beloved son, hear him. He's so great. And so they're always just saying like, you're great. No, you're great.

4:52.0

And kind of reminds me of that cartoon my kids used to watch in there were little I think it's called El Dorado and the one that goes, you're the God in the other half, no, you're the God.

5:01.0

And I think maybe that's how they are. They just are proud of each other. They love each other. And I think it's pretty great.
