Welcome to the Independent Characters. This is episode 220. I'm Carl.

I'm Josh. And we've got a couple guests with us that we're going to introduce in just a moment.

But the let me go over what the premise of this show is this time Josh. Yeah, absolutely.

So we used to do and we're coming, we're doing it again. We used to do a show called the Warrior Lodge.

And what the Warrior Lodge is is really a moderated discussion around various points that are going on currently within Warhammer 40,000 or Warhammer 40,000 Universe would have you.

So we're trying things a little bit differently this time. We've got the video obviously going on.

But we brought in a couple guests who are listeners of the show, regular listeners of the show who are also on our Discord channel.

And so they were very kind to join us for this show. And so let's first start with Hank. Hank, what's your handle on the Discord channel?

It's actually listed as Hank. Unfortunately, I couldn't get that from Discord because there's somebody else out there, I guess, with my name.

So I use T-O-A-A-E, which is an old acronym of use since I was like eight years old and can't divorce it.

All right. Well, there you go. So Hank, how did you kind of get into Warhammer 40,000? Let's get a quick synopsis of how you got into it and then what brings you here today?

Yeah, so this is actually this summer is my 20th year since I started. So when I was 13 because I was grounded from video games all summer for failing a middle school class.

Nice. And I rode my bike down to the local gaming store. It's called a little shop of magic, which started as a closet.

Like it was in a, you had to go down a hallway behind another store and it was tiny room and expanded over time. And he's actually since moved to Vegas and he's got a great story.

It's going great. But I would go there because I played Dungeons and Dragons. And I honestly don't remember how I started that. I think Foxtrot, the comic might have gotten me into Dungeons and Dragons.

And then eventually being in that store saw Warhammer miniatures. They had a beginner's tournament. They gave you 800 points.

My first games were in this tournament. And 20 years later, this is still my primary hobby. Nice. Nice. This is a great introduction. Yeah, that's a great journey. Yeah, for sure.

And what did that middle school class do for you anyway, right? It was constant, man. I felt like it's like Mr. Concert.

If you had passed that, we would not have you here today.
