My name is Hans Van Schare, media officer at Corporate Europe Observatory, also known as CEO.

It's October 21, and the various climate movements are preparing for the important climate summit

which takes place in Glasgow early November.

And those who follow the climate policy debate are deeply worried about the current climate policies, or should I say non-polices?

And so should you.

Because all kinds of experts like the scientists of the IPCC told us that we have 10 years to curb greenhouse gas emissions,

and that basically we should keep fossil fuels in the ground as much as possible.

Therefore, the European Union has declared climate policy the alpha and omega, translated in its so-called Green Deal.

And also many other governments around the world claim to take climate urgency serious.

That all sounds great.

But when you dig a little deeper, it seems that, for example,

European governments are over-enthusiastically pouring in billions of euros

by so-called recovery funds into the bank accounts of the fossil fuel industry

or other sectors that are contributing to climate change.

And despite their green rhetoric, the European Commission and the European governments

are allocating billions towards false solutions such as hydrogen, the Trojan horse for the gas industry

and the nuclear sector.
