Hello and welcome back to ACRAC. I'm Jed Woltbaugh. And we've got a great show for you today.

You know, I've had a lot of questions over the years from people about what the different

career kind of paths and settings are like in anesthesiology. We've touched on this a little bit

in terms of talking to some folks in private practice. Obviously lots of folks in academics,

but we haven't had a show dedicated to really kind of comparing and contrasting different options

within the field of anesthesiology. And that is what we're going to do today. And I think it's

going to be fantastic. We've got some great guests back again is Dr. Mike Asando, who as frequent

listeners will know is a professor of anesthesiology at the Ohio State University,

primarily focusing in cardiac anesthesia. And he's also involved as an assistant dean for graduate

medical education. So has that role too in academics. We also have a new guest on the show who I'm

excited to have Dr. Kyle Chome, who is a general anesthesiologist and recently completed his

obligation serving in the United States Air Force. So he'll be able to give us a little bit of

information about what a career in the military and anesthesiology looks like. And then we have another

return guest, the one and only Dr. Joe Cody, who as listeners will know was first on the show when he

was a fellow with Dr. Asando at Ohio State. And now is in private practice doing both cardiac

and general anesthesiology. So we are going to cover everything from the hardcore academic setting

to the military to private practice. And I think this will be really helpful for people. So for

very successful in academic medicine and academic anesthesiology. So let me ask you first,

what made you choose to work in academics? Obviously, you did a residency and then a fellowship.
