0:00.0 | This is Come Follow Me for Us, Hybrid. A little bit of old, a little bit of new because, yeah, I said it and it was good. |
0:09.0 | Shining, shining, shining, oh. |
0:15.0 | And as always, I'm your host, Melanie Stroud. This is season 5 episode 27, act 6 through 9. What will thou have me do? |
0:25.0 | And this is such a great lesson. I think I love this story of Saul as much as I love the story of Alma the younger because I love seeing that the Lord sees good in us. |
0:38.0 | And sometimes in the people that we think are the worst, the Lord sees the potential of them being mighty and powerful, missionaries and people and sometimes he just has to shake him and wake him up. |
0:52.0 | So this is a good week. I just wanted to say a couple things about this week in 2023. As many of you know, I travel back and forth between Arizona and Georgia every week. |
1:07.0 | I'm on a plane mostly on Mondays and it gets a little exhausting, but I have met so many great people. And this last week was no exception. |
1:16.0 | I had the opportunity to have a brand new missionary heading out to his mission going to the Peru, MTC sit right behind me and it's always fun to see new missionaries leaving and helping them find where they need to go in that giant Atlanta airport is always kind of fun. |
1:36.0 | So sometimes I think I'm placed there on purpose so that they actually get to their mission and don't end up just sitting in C gate in a corner crying and never being able to get anywhere. |
1:47.0 | But that's neither here nor there to this week crying that missionary would not have ended up crying somewhere. Why am I even telling this story? Okay. |
1:56.0 | Maybe just to tell you that if your kids are leaving on Mondays from Arizona and they're flying through Atlanta chances are they might be on a plane with me. |
2:04.0 | And if they are, I'll get them to where they need to go. How about that? Okay. So anyway, I had a woman sitting by me that was the shiniest, sweetest, amazing Catholic woman I have ever met. |
2:19.0 | And she was so devout and she had like three different |
2:26.0 | um, Bibles, manuals, things in her bag that were things that she was studying for the salmon get all wrong catacisms each week. I don't know. |
2:36.0 | But she was devout and as we spoke about her religion and the things she believed she talked about how they can take the sacrament multiple times a week that if they go over to the cathedral, |
2:51.0 | there's somebody there that can minister that sacrament and she goes at least two times a week. And I said, oh, why do you do that? And she said, why wouldn't I do that? If I can have Christ's spirit with me all the time. That's what I want. |
3:04.0 | I want to go and I want to renew that feeling of having Christ with me all the time. I was so impressed and I was so impressed by her love of the scriptures. And she was taking notes in her little book just like I do. |
3:20.0 | And we had such a great conversation and I hope that her and I can be friends for a long, long time because I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but I still don't feel like I have this. |
3:34.0 | Feeling like I have to get to sacrament meeting to take the sacrament. Sometimes so many other things get in the way and we're busy or what are we going to wear or who has to give a talk or whatever that we don't really think every week about the reason that we go to church to renew those covenants and to take the sacrament. |
3:56.0 | And so I was so grateful for her and for her example and maybe I can get her to come on the podcast sometime and talk about her faith and that those sacraments and I was also able to share my feelings and testimony about the Book of Mormon. |
4:11.0 | And then yesterday I had a friend who goes to the Baptist church here in Georgia and she was teaching a lesson or leading a discussion and she asked me to come. And I went and there were about six of us women kind of sitting around a table and we were talking about the book. |
4:26.0 | And I was just about a chapter in Luke and it was awesome. It was so great to sit with other women of faith and talk about beliefs that we have in common. |
