Hello and welcome back to Ackrack. I'm Jed Walpaw and we've got a great show for you today one that I think will be really interesting and very important

for everyone especially for people who either practice

pediatric andesthesiology or our parents or are pediatricians or have kids or have friends who

have kids. So lots and lots of people who will be really

interested in this and I have a great guest. Dr Rita Senelath who is a

pediatric anesthesiologist at UT Southwestern and Children's

Health. She's also the Associate Director

of Pediatric Clinical Research there.

And she's really developed this interest

in thinking about pediatric you rIs

and upper estuary infections in general

on how to decide how to handle these around

surgery and so I'm really thrilled to have you here to talk about it. Rita, welcome to the

show. Thank you so much Ed. I'm so excited to be here.

So start by telling us a little bit about you,

how you career developed, how you got interested in

pediatric anesthesia as a specialty,

and then how you develop this specific interest

in this area that we're going to talk about today?

Yes, of course. So I started a medical school in Galveston and that's when I first got interested

in anesthesiology. Just sounded fascinating to be able to both use your brain, thinking

about pharmacology as well as just physiology, pathology, and also using your hands because we do a lot of procedures with intubations we do lines and so it's just a nice combination in my opinion of both.
