John and I just had a 30-minute discussion about, John, okay, let's explain. Let's back up. Okay. Hey, guys, let's back up for a moment. First of all, you're listening to a podcast. month about Cormac McCarthy and his underage quote unquote muse, which caused a stir in the

online world of literary fanboydom, I guess.

And John and I were talking about it.

And then we got on the subject of public apologies and like TikTok.

Why did we get on this subject?

Because you took a position.

Oh, my hot take is that we, I mean, you don't have to discuss it.

I don't care.

I don't care.

Because, I mean, we've both had some takes that were pretty spicy.

My hot take is that over the course of human history, there have been relationships that especially by today's standards are completely inappropriate and manipulative.

And yet we're also simultaneously healthy and productive for both parties.

I think that is absolutely the case.
