0:44.8	In a way, this is the first of several episodes to celebrate the 25th anniversary of CEO.
0:51.2	But, as you can imagine, these are not really times for celebrations and festivities.
0:57.6	The devastating ongoing war in Ukraine, accelerating climate change, biodiversity collapse and
1:04.3	growing divide between haves and haves-nots are some of the truly worrying challenges we face

1:16.9	But as the European powers that be are today celebrating the 9th of May,
1:21.3	we thought we also could use our 25th anniversary to look back.
1:26.6	The 9th of May is Europe Day, or more precise Schumann Day, aka the day that Schumann Declaration was presented
1:30.5	by the French Foreign Minister Robert Schumann in 1950.
1:35.7	It proposed the creation of the European coal and steel community, whose members would
1:41.8	pool coal and steel productions. It was in a way the birth of the European Union as we know it.
1:48.0	But today we will talk about another year,
1:53.0	1972.
1:55.0	That is a year that was at least as significant
1:59.0	because it was the year in which the Club of Rome
2:01.0	published its famous report Limits to Growth.
