overnight campus protests escalating.

Demonstrators occupying a building at Columbia University,

smashing windows, barring the doors,

and unfairly banners, including one reading and to fodder.

After protesters circled the campus earlier in the night, the unrest coming just hours after the university started suspending students

refused to leave an encampment after a deadline had passed.

These repulsive scare tactics mean nothing

compared to the deaths of over 34,000 Palestinians. So, Okay, it's my real pleasure to interview, I think for one of the first big lefty media

outlets, the VP pick for Dr. Cornell West, Professor Molina Abdullah.

It's great to be with you.

All right, so, Professor, I think the first reaction that a lot of people got when they found out that you were going to be Dr. West's vice presidential pick was that they might not know very much about your background or why Dr West made that choice.

So I wondered if we could start with you elaborating on that to the sense that you're aware of what his thinking was, his mental processes were.

Why do you think he were chosen to join this ticket?

I think that's probably a better question for him than for me. We'll get around to ask you him but sure. I think for anybody

who's deeply involved in movement organizing they would know me. They'd seen me on the ground. They've seen me doing work.

I'm a part of a movement that believes in group-centered leadership, which means that we're not in it for our own selves.

We're not in it to make names for ourselves

or win paychecks for ourselves.

We're in it to really change the world for our people.

And so I think people who've been deeply involved in Black Lives Matter organizing over the last 10 years
