And as always, I'm your host, Melanie Stroud. This is season 4. Episode 40. Can you believe

that? Amos and Obadaya, Seek the Lord and ye shall it. And I'm just wondering, I'm

checking up on you. Did you guys study mercy at all this week? Did you think about any

more the phrase, I desire mercy, not sacrifice? Because I did, and it's actually been kind

of cool. The more I read, the more I just find that he wants to, he really just wants

to give us everything. And it's up to us to turn to him. It's up to us to repent. He

doesn't just say like, I want perfection from you. I want everything to always be perfect.

He just says, turn around, come back, repent of your evil ways and let's party. So I think

if you didn't start studying mercy because of last week, keep studying. I'm going to keep

studying it because I think it's cool. All right, this week's lesson, a part of it matches

last week's lesson and the people are being awful and they're offering up all their

sacrifices. And I just want to start by reading this little piece from Amos 5 because it

goes along better with last week than this week. And this is what it says in Amos 5, 21

and 22. It says, I hate, I despise. So it's like, I hate. No, really, guys, I despise your

feast days and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Though you offer me burnt offerings

in your meat offerings, I will not accept them. Neither will I regard the peace offerings

of your fat beasts. And I just think right here, the Lord is just saying that he hates

hypocrisy. So I think we need to save ourselves some time. If we're just going to church and

going through the motions so that everybody thinks that we're great, we can't forget the
