Last week, most eyes were glued to the Democratic National Convention programing: The Lil Jon roll call, AOC proclaiming that Harris is working "tirelessly" for a ceasefire, JB Pritzker bragging that he is a better billionaire than Trump, and Harris proclaiming hers will be the most "lethal" military ever. But the Green Party also had its own nominating convention, which prioritized the issues that once defined the Bernie left. This week, two Green Party National Co-Chairs --Margaret Elisabeth and Craig Cayetano -- join Bad Faith to weigh in on the DNC and contrast it with the Green Party's organizational structure, provide additional insight into why Cornel West may have decided to run as an independent, the new Green Party VP, & whether Uncommitted is wasting their leverage. They also take on the growing volume of anti-Green propaganda shared by high profile liberal accounts like George Takei's. Is the Green Party really doing nothing between presidential elections?

0:10.0 | it's laughable to me. We're an all-volunteer group. None of us get paid for our jobs here, so we're all |
0:17.0 | donating our time. And I think sometimes in our advanced capitalist society, |
0:21.7 | people don't properly value their time, especially as a volunteer. |
0:26.8 | And I know we don't have a federal minimum wage that's reflective of what it should be, but |

0:35.0 | minimally value your time at that and count that as your contributions |
0:40.0 | to your political party. |
0:42.0 | So if we're a volunteer-driven party and we don't accept |
0:45.8 | pack monies then it is in fact individual people showing up because they can |
0:51.2 | make a difference, right? They can. They can find a home here not just a place where you can cast your vote |
0:57.6 | but a place where your effort is going to make a material measurable difference in the lives of those around you. |
1:05.0 | And I know this is really the trap of national electoral politics in the way that's framed |
1:11.4 | versus local politics. |
1:13.0 | They'll say things like, well, the electoral college is going to disenfranchise your vote anyway, |
1:18.0 | so you might as well not even vote. |
1:21.0 | Just stay home. |
1:22.0 | Don't participate. And then of course they put |
1:24.9 | barriers, systemic barriers in place to prevent especially poor and |
1:28.6 | marginalized folks from having access to easy voting. They make it overly easy for retired people and white folks who are |
1:37.1 | professional blue collar workers to have time off to go and take whatever time they need to go and |
1:42.1 | vote. |
