Melinda Marie Lopez was a 34 year old from Newport, Washington.

disappearances are minimum information problems.

We are given the fewest of facts, then we have to figure out what happened.

For example, poker is a version of this.

Yes, you know what cards you hold,

but you don't know what your opponent has.

And to win, you have to make educated guesses based on the other players bets, body language,

history, etc.

This is in contrast to chess where there are no secrets, no hidden information.

Everything that can be known is right there on the board.

You win or lose whether you can analyze a position better than the other player.

Disappearances that are good examples of this?

his building, and that building going up in flames later.
