Summary

LGBTQ issues are a huge part of our teenagers' lives. If your teenagers aren't dealing with these issues themselves, they know or will know other young people who are. Too many parents have no idea how to address these with their teenagers. Even worse, many of our adolescents get suddenly hostile when we try to express our concerns. In this episode we define what each of these mean and try to unpack the basis of LGBTQ issues. We also address why this topic is suddenly so important to young people and the most common mistakes parents make in addressing these issues with their teenagers. Everyone FOCUS! We're going a bit deep! Got questions or feedback? We want to hear from you! [email protected] Join us on Patreon for bonus content and more: https://www.patreon.com/FeedingTheMouthThatBitesYou

Hey, everyone, and welcome back on today's episode. We will be discussing LGBTQIA plus issues in teenagers.

0:23.7

Ashley, you know, this is a conversation that happens regularly in our home.

0:27.7

I don't know where you're at with your oldest, but with teenagers, this conversation happens on

0:34.2

almost a daily basis, just about friends and their conversations about what's going

on at school. People are talking about LGBTQ and then the I and the A plus that we're going to

0:47.7

discuss too that are less commonly heard. But I think this is a super important conversation.

0:53.4

It's happening in our culture. It's happening on

0:55.5

social media. It's happening everywhere around us. And for us as parents to ignore it or to not get

1:01.0

some information and facts on it would be absurd. Oh, that's a good way to put it. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. And

1:07.6

even if we are, if we have parents of teenagers that haven't crossed this bridge yet,

1:14.1

it's just a matter of time before they do. Because like you said, it is something that's

1:18.0

being commonly spoke about within the groups of teenagers. And so parents, if you haven't dealt

1:24.1

with it already, you soon will. And I think that this episode is going to be very informative and helpful for those

1:31.0

conversations that will come about.

1:33.4

Yeah.

1:33.6

And as you can guess, it comes up in my office more and more.

1:37.9

And I think you're right.

1:39.1

One of the reasons that I'm glad we're doing this is because whether it is the parents teenager actually or the

teenager's attitude about LGBTQ issues, parents are very often a bit dear in the headlights

1:54.0

about the whole thing. Like we don't really know how to say anything and or if we do, it seems
