Typhoon comes to an end. Last time when we left off Army Group Center, Operation Typhoon, the capturing of Moscow,

had been launched on October 2, 1941.

But per the original plans of Barbarossa, Moscow was to have fallen by the fourth month.

Hence Typhoon was kicked off when the Soviet capital should have already been theirs.

Why was it still standing defiant? Well, first, the Soviets had held out

at Smolensk for a month, defying the attacker's plans, and of course, when Hitler

ordered some of Army Group Centers to assist

against Leningrad and Kiev this caused Field Marshal Fader von Bach's

Army Group Center to stay still, mostly, for another month.

And in that time, General Gagori Zucoff,

chief of the Red Army's general staff,
