Wendy Guessing was a 50-year-old from Crest Hill, Illinois. She was the mother of one and had a sister and two brothers.

On June 12, 2021, Wendy left her job at a pizza place without warning. Wendy was later recorded on video at a local motel.

She was never seen again.

One of the types of disappearances I labeled a few years ago after looking at all of unfound's cases to that point, was the walk-off.

In actuality, this could also technically be called the runoff or drive-off or even the sale off,

depending on the circumstances. You know what I mean.

But these are situations where a person is left on his or her own and did not return.

Granted, in some of these incidents, there are reasons to believe the person had no intention of returning.

And those are fairly straightforward.

Yet, there is a category of the walk-off where we believe the missing

person planned on coming back, but didn't. Some examples from Unfound's history. Jamie Bowen,

that she planned to return. But what happened when she left alone? And now a summary of the case.

Wendy guessing was the second of four children, two boys and two girls.

She got along with all of them, but that was not a surprise given Wendy's great personality.

She graduated from high school, but while there she met the man she would marry.

They ended up having a son in 1996. Everything seemed fine. But then things changed. After taking a house cleaning job in the

early 2000s, Wendy began staying out all night and not coming home.

Eventually, this led to a divorce, and Wendy admitting she had a drug problem.
