Summary

0:38.4	A student film by George Lucas titled THX1138 was in competition at the third annual
0:44.6	National Student Film Festival held on the campus of UCLA.
0:50.1	21-year-old Steven Spielberg had heard the buzz and it's just taken a seat.
0:56.6	So our next film is one that really grabbed our attention.
1:00.0	We're so excited to be able to show it to you today.
1:02.4	It's by a young filmmaker named George Lucas, ladies and gentlemen, THX1138.
1:09.4	The curtain went up and the lights went down.
1:14.7	The film was futuristic, convincingly futuristic.

1:29.8	The editing was edgy and the special effects blew the audience away.
1:34.0	Steven too.
1:35.0	He was a film student at Cal State Long Beach and he'd made 15 films of his own by then,
1:40.1	Stern's, mysteries and even one about UFOs.
1:45.2	But as Steven watched this film, he was jealous.
