Hello, Mountaineers. Welcome to Bedtime Bible Stories, stories from God's storybook to exercise our faith.

Let's begin. After David defeated Goliath, the Israelites rejoiced. Soon the Israelite army

returned home from the place where David killed Goliath.

The women came out to meet Saul and the others with dancing and singing, playing on tambourines and lutes.

They sang, Saul has slain his thousands and David, his tens of thousands.

This made Saul jealous and angry.

He said,

They're crediting David with tens of thousands,

but me with only thousands.

What more can he get but the kingdom?

After that, Saul watched David jealously.

King Saul kept David at the palace with him and did not let him

return home. David became friends with Saul's son Jonathan. Jonathan and David even made a covenant

to signify their new friendship. Whenever Saul sent David to do something, David had great success. And so King Saul made David a high-ranking
