I want to say this in a very classy way because this man is a Hall of Famer.

And honestly, I think this man overall did a really good job.

But it is over for Lou Lamarillo with the New York Islanders.

They have announced that his contract is not being renewed.

And I look back at Lou's time here.

Remember, he ushered in the era where John Tavares left to go to Toronto.

He fired Doug Wade. He hires Barry Trots. And the Islanders had some really good success.

I mean, in year two and three of Lou being here, the Islanders were in however you want to define it,

the conference finals in the following year, because of the weirdness, the semifinals.

In back-to-back years.

And then obviously, 22 was a disaster.

COVID had a lot to do with it.

In the last couple of years, they've been an underachieving but okay playoff team.

And then this year was a disaster.

But it was clear that they needed to move on, that the islanders need to reset.

They need to start over.

Lou Lamarillo, see you later.

So I think they made the right move, and I'm hopeful for the future.

But I do want to be fair, five postseason appearances,

two appearances in which they were so close to getting to a Stanley Cup final.

They lost a game seven on a short-handed freaking goal.
