James 517 tells us that Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are.

He lived and served God under a wicked king, and yet, in spite of the wickedness around him,

he was a man who not only walked with

God he had the power of God on his life in this study a man like us in times like

Can you see the massive crowd gathered on top of Mount Carmel?

What chaos there must have been when the fire fell and the sacrifice was consumed.

And then when Elijah, in a very public display of the judgment of Almighty God,

brings all of those prophets of bail and puts them to death.

This is a moment that is a high, holy moment in the life of Elijah and in the history of Israel, but it is

immediately followed by a very private moment. You know, many times the greatest battles are not

the ones that everyone knows about. They're the ones that are fought in private. And the greatest

expression of faith and exercise of faith is often not one on public display

for everyone to see and observe and commend.

It has to be between you and God alone.

So we've come today in 1st Kings chapter number 18 to the closing verses and to the real climax of the story of what

God did on Mount Carmel. The Bible says beginning in verse 41, and Elijah said unto Ahab, get the up,

eat and drink, for there is a sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink, and Elijah went up to the top

of Carmel, and he cast himself down upon the earth and put his face between his knees,

and said to his servant, go up now, look toward the sea, and he went up and looked and said,
