Melissa, the decision that the president announced today was one that he had long sought

had been investigating for 11 months to impose those extremely steep tariffs on

foreign steel and aluminum. The proclamation that he signed today is the enforcement document

that will be put into the Federal Register according to White House officials and

they will take effect in 15 days. So the President made sure to point out that the order as he signed today

is not the end all be all and it might not be permanent.

America will remain open to modifying or removing the tariffs for

individual nations as long as we can agree on a way to ensure that their products
