0:00.0	A March 8, 1987, Ray and Rita Zumel enjoyed drinks and music at their local VFW.
0:14.1	The couple left around 8pm and headed home in their van.
0:18.2	Ray seemed a little off though.
0:20.3	He pulled over near the Blanco bridge and then passed out.
0:24.3	Ray's wife Rita shook him and yelled his name, but she couldn't get him to wake up.
0:30.7	It was before the time of cell phones, so Rita tried to flag someone down for help.
0:36.0	A man in a dark colored pickup truck stopped and she was relieved that help had arrived.
0:41.2	She wasn't relieved for very long though.
0:43.9	The man fired two bullets through her husband's window.
0:49.2	Less than an hour later, this call was made tonight from 1.
1:12.3	From A&E, this is cold case files.
1:24.4	Rita had finally managed to get someone to stop and help her.
1:27.8	They placed the 9-moncaw and Detective Dana Peterson was dispatched to the location where
1:32.7	the Dumael's van had been parked.
1:35.2	He discovered Rita crying hysterically and 49-year-old Ray shot to death.
1:41.0	This is Detective Peterson.
1:43.3	Mr. Dumael was in the vehicle.
1:45.2	He was in the driver's side.
1:47.4	The side window of the driver's door is broken.
1:52.5	I recall one bullet hole through the roof and the other bullet entered Mr. Dumael from
1:58.1	the left side.
2:00.6	Rita Dumael told the detective that her husband had passed out.
