intelligent machines and that shift in the middle of end of my college year was how I discovered AI.

That's Fay Fay Lee.

She's often called somewhat to her embarrassment, the godmother of AI.

My conversation with her is the first of three special episodes of Clear and Vivid,

exploring the dramatic impact that artificial intelligence has had in the last 12 months

since chatbots such as ChatGPT burst on the scene.

Dr Lee has written a wonderful book recounting her work laying the foundation for those chatbots some 15 years ago.

But the book called The Worlds I See.

He's also a vivid portrayal of her own personal journey from her childhood in China through a bold and risky gamble with her career,

to her present concern that AI should help humanity not destroy it.
