It's an honor and a pleasure for me to be here among my colleagues' scholars

that with work I deeply admire, and I want to apologize in advance for the quality of my immigrant English.

Also, I want to thank you in advance for your criticisms and suggestions later. So to begin, reading fictional literature is part of our contemplative life.

Since it helps us look at various features of human life,

in particular those with

at first sight seem particular and contingent, but which consider carefully reveal

some of the wide-ranging, sometimes even necessary facets.

Second, fiction like art in general is a playful, ludic and evil.

Most time its credible aspects are only vicariously true, since imagination and even fancy

are always present. This kind of playful contemplation helps us catch a glimpse of important things,

helps us vicariously feel crucial feelings and capture their resonances.
