At the time this all began, my dad was retired. He was in his kind of mid-70s then. He'd worked six days a week for absolutely years. We wanted him to enjoy his retirement, really, because he'd worked so hard.

This is Kinder Jackson. In the summer of 2020, her dad, Hajajaj, decided to rent out his four-bedroom house in South London to provide some income for his retirement.

They're a 75-year-old company on their website and this guy came to visit my dad and said, you know, they do this all the time.

They rent it out to NHS people. And they seemed really personable and really nice.

They came and sat in his living room, showed him all the paperwork, which all seemed legitimate at the time.

Haddad signed up with Imperial. And for the first six months or so, everything seemed to be

fine. Unfortunately, my dad contracted COVID quite badly, Christmas of 2020, and then was put into an

induced coma for three months and was in a hospital for around five months

and then had a long rehabilitation when he came out.

So it's only when he came out of hospital and started to look at his affairs, that he

realised that the rent payments had stopped.

It was a difficult time for the family.

Not only was Hadjad recovering from a near-death experience with COVID,

but Kinda's mum had also just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Her decline was really quick.

So by the time he'd come out of hospital, my mum was unrecognisable.
