Second Kings chapter 13, verses 18 and 19.

And Elisha said, take the arrows, and he took them.

And Elisha said to the king of Israel, strike the ground with them,

and he struck three times and stopped. Then the man of God was angry

with him and said, you should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck down Syria

until you had made an end of it. But now you will strike down Syria only three times.

Let me give you a little context behind what we just read.

This is right before Elisha dies.

And he is with the King of Israel, and they are talking about battle with the nation of Syria.

And Elisha has said, you are going to experience victory from the Lord over Syria, until you've made an end of them. But then,

he says, strike the ground with these arrows. And the king strikes the ground three times, but then

stops. And Elisha said, why did you stop? If you would have struck the ground just a few more

times, then you would have experienced complete victory, but you stopped short.

And there's a lot more I could explain about the context here, but that picture of stopping short,

of doing all that God calls us to do is what I want to lead us to pray according to today.

And I just want to ask you, are there any ways that you

are stopping short of doing all that God has called you to do? Because this is a temptation for

all of us to do part of what God is calling us to do.

But just think, right now in your life, and let's pray and ask God to show us anything in our

lives that God is calling us to do that we are not doing.

Oh, God, please open our eyes to this. Right now we pray, we ask for this. God,
