Today is Friday, December 4th.

Oil prices are up, job growth is down, and we're focused on the FDA approval process for a coronavirus vaccine.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has now received two emergency use applications for COVID-19 vaccines.

The first came from Pfizer and his German partner on November 20th, while the second came this past Monday from Moderna.

So what happens next?

A few things to know.

First, that Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday received British regulatory approval.

Two, FDA head Stephen Hahn tells the Wall Street Journal that his agency has 150 people

reviewing the Pfizer data, and then outside advisory committee will meet on Thursday,

December 10th to go over all of it. That means, at least in theory,

the vaccine could be approved by this time next week. Three, Pfizer says that supply chain troubles

have halved the number of doses it expects to have available in the U.S. during 2020.

Moderna has not disclosed similar issues, but its process is at least a week behind.

The bottom line, we're getting tantalizingly close to vaccinations, at least for frontline

health care workers, but we're not there yet.
