The region with the best team in the country is surrounded by several worthwhile teams that can blow up the region. I give my thoughts on how you should proceed and how you should be thinking about this region in relation to the others.

Here's your host, Duane Calendar.

Welcome to the show folks.

We are talking about the East region, otherwise known as Thunderdome, for this year's NCAA tournament because quite frankly the selection committee was either lazy or just belligerent against the big ease because I don't

0:47.7

understand how basically you have five of the top 15 teams ranked in Ken Palm all in a single region and

0:59.0

depending on which statistical measure you go by, technically you've got five of them in the top 12.

1:07.2

So it's pretty lopsided overall in the region when you break it down between Yukon, Auburn, Illinois, Iowa State and

1:18.8

essentially San Diego State where also you can also factor in Florida Atlantic as an 8 seed because they are also one of the highest rated teams in Ken Palm in terms of teams ranked in that range well

1:36.7

above some of these other regions. Plus that's not even to talk about, okay, we know BYU isn't a six seed, but realistically, the only reason why, from a scheduling standpoint,

1:52.1

B.Y. U.S. to succeed is because B.Y. you cannot play on Sundays,

1:57.0

given the Mormon faith, so they move them to the 60s,

2:01.0

but you put them in the East region.

2:03.2

It's one of those things where the committee,

2:06.3

you know, we can say it's conspiracy theory

2:09.6

against the Big East, or if it's just the fact that because the Big East doesn't have a football

2:15.0

conference that, you know, they got the shaft in terms of selection picks, seating,

2:20.2

scheduling. None of this really makes a ton of sense in terms of balances schedule because I already talked about how, you know, uninteresting the Midwest region comes across as in terms of the actual teams because I don't see upside with most of the teams in the Midwest outside of maybe Creighton and even then you look at the rest of the region I think

2:46.4

most of the teams in the West take care of business on the Midwest side and that's not even talking about these teams in the East region.

2:55.6

So let's get right down to it.

2:58.0

You know, we've got Yukon. Stetson,. I mean thank you for participating, but this should be relatively straightforward
