Summary

Join Jim and Greg on 3 Martini Lunch as they unpack Matt Gaetz withdrawing his bid for Attorney General and President-Elect Trump choosing Pam Bondi as his new nominee, Sen. Bob Casey's overdue concession, and the UN’s latest attempt to bilk U.S. taxpayers in the name of climate change.

First, they discuss Matt Gaetz stepping aside after multiple GOP senators vowed to oppose his nomination. They also explore Pam Bondi’s record as Florida Attorney General and the potential hurdles in her confirmation process. Plus, they explain why Gaetz’s political future won’t include a Senate or House seat.

Next, they're glad to see Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, Jr. concede his loss to Republican challenger Dave McCormick. But even in this statement, Casey spoke glowingly of election officials in all counties and the legal army he assembled, allegedly to make sure no voters were disenfranchised. Jim and Greg are not impressed but they're glad he's finally hitting the bricks.

Finally, they roll their eyes at the UN’s plan to demand $250 billion from the U.S. and other Western nations for climate change initiatives. Even more absurd, the recipient nations are upset it’s not $1 trillion. Thankfully, this misguided scheme is unlikely to survive past Trump’s inauguration.

Thanks to Andy McCarthy and John Gabriel for

returning home quite soon. I think today and his family will be overjoyed. However, Jim, if you

0:31.1

stayed long enough in Florida, you would eventually been nominated for Attorney General of the

United States. I realized, Greg, that I am staying at a hotel that is 10-minute drive from Mar-Lago.

Palm Beach, I was able to speak at an excellent local university,

and in part because of its proximity of Mar-Lago,

and the sense that this is the Southern White House now,

and of course the the fact, apparently every

major New York financial firm has offices down here. This is basically like the Florida part of the

Estella Corridor. This is part of the Washington, New York political government business finance

nexus, but with really great weather, except when they have hurricanes.

1:11.0

Yes, exactly right. But let's talk about the big shift that happened with the president's

1:15.2

nomination for attorney general. You and I talked last week about- I hate to interrupt,

1:19.1

but let's just emphasize the big shift with an F. Big shift. Yes, yes indeed. Well, we talked last week about how Matt Gates, in our opinions, was not the strongest pick the president could make for Attorney General for a wide variety of reasons. And then yesterday, after the day before, going up on Capitol Hill and making it seem like things were going well, Matt Gates sends out a tweet saying, you know what, I'm not doing this anymore.

1:46.9

He said, I had excellent sessions with senators yesterday, meaning on Wednesday.

I appreciate their thoughtful feedback.
