I think we could find it in Isaiah 11 and many other passages.

And then the New Testament authors claim that the blessing of Abraham, just thinking of Galatians

3, the blessing of Abraham has come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus.

So this blessing of Abraham in Genesis 12 is really God's big answer to the big problem

introduced into the world because of human sin.

And so far, brothers, we have made it through the opening chapters of Genesis, what I would

probably call the prologue of Genesis, Genesis 1 through Genesis 11. We've established,

I hope, that the Bible is moving toward the fulfillment of this initial promise in Genesis 315

that a seed of the woman will crush the fulfillment of this initial promise in Genesis 315 that a seed of the woman will crush

the head of the serpent. Now, there have been times throughout these first 11 chapters. I think

that that promise has seemed on the cusp of fulfillment. It feels like, oh, my gosh, we're,

we might be on the verge or something here. And then we've also seen that is going to be

exceedingly unlikely, as we talked about last week with the flood and violence filling the earth.

And so we're about to transition now to focus on one family for the next 25 chapters of Genesis.

Unfortunately, we're not going to cover all 25 of those today. We're

just going to do Genesis 12 to 14. But here we are. We're focusing on Abram. Before we get to the specific

verses at the beginning of Genesis 12, I have a question, Jim, what do we know about Abram before God

speaks to him out of the blue in Genesis 12?. Is he just a regular Canaanite guy?
