And she says, I'll water your camels as well.

And Jacob, you know, he looks at this situation.

Why are you guys waiting?

This is a wrong time of day to be watering the sheep.

Water the sheep and go send them back to pasture.

And they won't do it.

And then here comes this woman that he's attracted to.

And he does it.

And it continues to go this way all through the passage where

Jacob continually takes the initiative and Jacob continually asserts his rights and

demands.

Last week, we covered Genesis 27 to 28. We focused on the heartbreaking story of Jacob stealing

his father's blessing from his brother Esau. We talked about a few other things, but that was the main

thing we talked about. This week, we are on to Genesis 29 to 31, three chapters of

scripture that are, forgive the cliche, dripping with irony. I think they're also

dripping with what Jim referred to a few weeks ago as poetic justice. See, what we're about to

see is Jacob, the deceiver, is going to be deceived by Laban.

And then the deceiver of the deceiver is going to get sort of redeceived by the original deceiver.

And then the redeceiver will re-deceive the deceiver and on and on and on and on it goes.

My head hurts just talking about it.

So, Jim, let's start with Genesis 29.
