The White House Situation Room.

That highly secure facility in the basement of the White House

activated for emergencies and actions

of the highest level.

It's a place where public crises have edged toward national catastrophe,

only to be pulled back by the quick actions of White House staff

and more importantly, non-partisan civil servants.

Stephanophilus tells stories of what happened in the situation room when

presidents were in crisis and in one case when a president caused the crisis.

On January 6, 2021, the situation room was activated

as rioters attacked the United States Congress.
