This week we're bringing you the stories of some of the most famous artists of the

20th century. For our final program Lucy Burns spoke to some of the friends of the

great American artist Georgia O'Keefe, who died in 1986.

O'Keefe was famous for her vivid oil paintings of flowers, landscapes and animal skulls.

She lived and worked in the southern United States in the wild dry canyons and deserts of New Mexico.

In this untamed land of space lives an American painter Georgia O'Keefe. The artist

constantly seeks to find the image of this country. Some of them look very

abstract until you see the actual landscape and you get where it comes

through. The colors, the lighting.

Always aware and sensitive to things seen, the artist translates her feelings onto canvas.

A moment of time is caught.

It is transformed into a timeless image.

You are so familiar with the landscape that it becomes part of your daily life,

but when someone like Miss O'Keefe who always seemed to find something new,
