The case against David Marshall Murdoch seemed pretty solid, solid enough for the state of Florida to seek the death penalty.

David's ex-fiance, 56-year-old Lisa Bunce, was sitting on the screened-in porch with her best friend, Sandra Anderson, after a night out, when David pulled up and opened fire.

He shot Lisa twice while she was on the porch, and she tried to crawl

into the house to hide in the closet. David shot Sanda once in the face. Then he went inside,

found Lisa, and fired two more shots. He called 911 and told them that he had to do it, because he

had to get rid of the devil.

Sanda miraculously lived to testify against David. Plus, David stayed there at the house

in the yard waiting on police to come after he called them. The shots were confirmed to come

from his gun, and his gun had his DNA on the trigger and on the grip.

Plus, David's on video entering the gated community just minutes before.

It seems pretty open and shut, right?

But David Murdoch pled not guilty to the murder of Lisa, the attempted murder of Sanda,

plus burglary with a firearm,

and shooting into a building or dwelling. So how can he plead not guilty to the charges when

there's not really any question that he's responsible? Well, we found out. David testified

during his own death penalty trial. He wanted the opportunity to give his

side of the story, and his defense is not what I was expecting. But is it enough to convince a jury
