Hello, everyone. Welcome to Slash Film Daily. Today's Monday, November 25th, 2024. On today's episode of the show, we're going to be talking about the weekends box office numbers. My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com. I'm joined on today's episode by Slash Film staff writer and box office analyst, Ryan Scott. Hey, hey, everyone. How's it going? All right, Ryan, you're in a slightly different setup today. So if your sound sounds different, your audio sounds different to listeners, that's why.

0:25.1

But I think we should be good to go.

0:27.1

So let's jump right into it.

0:28.6

And why don't you run through the top 10 movies at the box office for me?

0:32.3

We'll do.

0:33.1

So this weekend was, as I've teased for a while, this was kind of the big weekend that the industry had served on the counter on the calendar for quite some time with Wicked and Gladiator 2, both hitting theaters.

0:43.9

It is kind of a Barbenheimer level counter programming event where you had, you know, a big female, you know, forward blockbuster based on some very popular IP against a more male-focused

with $114 million debut.

1:11.6

That was very much ahead of industry expectations, which had it kind of at the $100 million on the high end, so did exceptionally well.

1:19.6

It also did $50.1 million overseas for $164.1 million opening.

1:25.6

I mean, that's just absolutely stellar.

1:28.4

And we talk a little bit more about this later, but, you know, like it or not, that's

1:32.2

why they split this movie in two.

1:33.8

At number two was Gladiator 2 with a $55.5 million domestic debut.

1:38.4

The movie had already been opened overseas.

1:41.8

So it is now already at $221 million worldwide. We'll talk a little bit more

1:46.6

about that in a minute. Number three was Red One last week's big movie, which despite the

1:52.2

competition dropped 58.6% for $13.2 million. That is actually the best hold for a big

1:59.1

streaming movie turned theatrical release because usually

2:03.4

these things fall off a cliff.

2:04.8

So number four, we had something called Bonhofer, Pastor Spy Assassin, which is the latest
