If it feels like it's too early to talk about dengue fever, I want to remind you that April

is next month, and that is when mosquito season starts.

Last year, we saw a record-breaking number of cases of dengue fever, so here's what you need to know in terms of the numbers, the symptoms, and how to prevent it.

Overall, last year, 10,000 more infections than we typically see, or 10,000 plus. The symptoms

of dengue fever often include fever, headache, muscle, and joint pain, and that can elapse into a rash.

It typically starts about five to seven days after the infection,

and it lasts for about a week. Prevention, mainly is preventing mosquito bites. Eva and I talk about

this. Eva calls herself a self-proclaimed mosquito expert. I don't want to get bit.

And I think it's so important because as the weather gets warmer and wetter, as unfortunately

travel, increases will likely see the increase in the rates of fevers and issues like this.

But it's important to also know that it does not travel from person to person.

I was about to say it's not infectious.

It's not contagious, but it can elapse into severe dinge fever, which happens in a small percentage.

For the most part, people will recover in about a week or two.

But for a small percent, it can elapse into severe symptoms of bleeding, severe stomach pain, which needs

medical attention. If you've had travel in an area high-end dengue and you have symptoms,

it's important to talk to your doctor. And the treatment is mainly supported.
