Hi everybody.

This short segment is what we call for the good of the order.

It's something we used to do at the end of my sorority meetings, if you can believe that,

where someone would share something that they came across in the course of the week, a poem, a song lyric, a short story, that they found enormously helpful as they went about daily life.

And I wanted to pick up the thread because I am so often wowed by something I see in the world

that I want to bring back and hand off to you.

So every Friday we produce a short segment called for the good of the order.

Think of it like an audio greeting card, a thing to share with the people that you love around the country

who you don't get to see or talk to enough. A thing to discuss with the people you do see and talk to

on a more regular basis.

This is Kelly Corrigan Wonders for the good of the order. This week's go to is something I learned from Monica Guzman. I met Monica through a seminar out in Berkeley

on intellectual humility, which is, you know, just the basic understanding that there's

always more to the story than we know or can see.

So anyway, this woman spoke, Monica Guzman, and I totally loved her and then recently I met up with her

at Aspen Ideas and we actually ran a short part of that

conversation in the pod feed already. So I hope you enjoyed it. She's so

delightful. As I am sure you are, I am watching the ramp up to the presidential

election next year, which includes tons of indictments and upcoming trials, which makes for a lot of vitriol.

And it's one thing to have it be on television, it's another thing to have it happen in your home with your parents or your siblings or your old friends from college

And so what Monica Guzman is teaching me and all of us through a book called I never thought of it that way is how to

think about different values in new ways and there was this one passage that caught my eye that I thought was really worth sharing today.
