Summary

Hollywood’s award season officially kicked off last night with the Golden Globes, which returned from a controversial one-year absence after it was revealed that their voting body did not include a single Black member. But now they’re back, and trying to prove that they’ve really changed their ways, by picking Jerrod Carmichael to host the festivities. Carmichael came out hot and directly addressed the racial elephant in the room, which had some of the audience squirming in their seats. But with an open bar and a loose vibe, the evening was packed with hilarious bits and emotional moments. For sure, the Globes were entertaining, but, we gotta ask - did the Hollywood Foreign Press Association show real progress?
