Summary

It's Election Eve and we're talking all about voting, drinking, sobriety, British TV, hot flashes, how to show up with challenging family members, how to deal with a broken heart, barrel jeans, plus listener questions and a whole lot more!

Three ways you can still help with the election:

  1. Sign up to canvass or phone bank! https://votesaveamerica.com/vsa-2024/
  2. Help people get to the polls: https://rideshare2voteaware.org/engage-voters-and-drive-them-to-vote/
  3. Volunteer to ballot cure (ballots get rejected for mistakes, some states allow voters to correct them): https://volunteerblue.org/take-action-ballot-cure/

Hi, and welcome to Everything is Fine, a podcast for women over 40.

0:08.7

We are your hosts.

0:09.9

I'm Kim France.

0:11.1

And I'm Jen Romalini.

0:12.6

And Jen, you had another bummer this week.

0:16.1

Yeah, another, another cat death.

0:18.9

Two in one month.

0:20.0

I mean, everybody probably knows about this who follows me anywhere that's not here.

0:23.8

But yeah, it was a rapid decline of poor, poor, mean, Dolly Parton did not go peacefully.

0:34.4

She did not, she did not go peacefully, but it was fast. It was she just started, she just started

0:41.0

declining on Wednesday night and by the middle of the night, Thursday night, she was gone.

0:46.4

It was, it was crazy. It was not fast enough for me to take any action. I was going to take her

0:52.1

to the vet because she had woken up, like,

0:55.4

or the night before she was like not walking right, but she had been totally normal up to this

1:00.9

point. In fact, I had taken her to the vet like last month and they were like, ah, her kidneys

1:06.4

are, because she just had been yelling as discussed on this podcast. It was just like a yelling at all times.

1:14.9

Like at any time you could just have a cat just start yelling at you like at like top volume.

1:20.6

And the vet was like all of her levels look okay or kidneys are a little bit, whatever.

1:24.7

Anyway, it's 24 hours of just a rapid harrowing decline of this

1:30.4

animal. And then in the middle of the night, Thursday night, she was gone. I just, I think it's

1:37.9

remarkable, especially since you talked about how Ruby and Dolly Parton didn't really have a lot of

1:42.8

affection for each other,
