0:15.0	I'm Maria Kalanchini, and I'm the author of Goop Tales.
0:20.0	And in today's episode, we are going to travel to the Tower of London with Selfina, who is a very self-centered little goop, as she can be rather selfish. Now, the Tower of London is right in the middle of London, as you may imagine.
0:40.2	And it was a place that I visited many years ago, and I loved it.
0:45.8	It was the most amazing tour, just so full of history.
0:51.0	And I wanted to write a story that included the Tower of London. So in doing my research,
0:58.2	I found out some really interesting things. So this story is going to be set in 13th century
1:05.0	London. And it is because there was a zoo at the Tower of London that was started in 1204, and that zoo lasted for
1:16.1	almost 600 years. And there were monkeys and lions and a polar bear. And all of the animals that
1:27.0	were in the zoo, they were called the royal
1:30.0	menagerie. And they were given to the royalty of London as presents from kings and queens
1:41.2	of other countries would bring them these exotic animals as gifts, and they had
1:46.3	nowhere to keep them. So they created the royal menagerie and let all of these animals roam
1:53.9	around the Tower of London. Now, they had cages for some of them, but apparently they weren't
1:59.6	very well attended to.
2:01.7	And there was a lot of chaos.
2:03.9	So in today's story, Selfina will travel to the Tower of London and she is going to meet
2:10.7	a beast or two.
2:12.9	And there's going to be a Barbary Lion.
2:16.4	And the Barbary Lions, I found out, they did live at the Tower of London,
2:21.1	but they're now extinct, unfortunately. So we'll go back in time and take a visit. So enjoy the story,
