Our guest today on Battleground is Adam Gennelsson.

For many of you who have seen Adam on MSNBC, he's the Executive Director of the Progressive

Organization Battle-Born Collective.

He's the former Deputy Chief of Staff to the legendary Senator Harry Reid from Nevada,

Democratic Majority Leader, and he's the author of a new book about the filibuster.

And why we must get rid of it, called Kill Switch, the rise of the modern Senate and

the crippling of American democracy.

No subtly there.

I'm really looking forward to talking to Adam about the origin of the filibuster, how

it's used has changed over the decades, and why we must get rid of it now.

I want to talk about what's been going on in Washington, where this is an increasingly

heated debate.

But first, as some of you may be aware, Steve Schmidt recently posted a statement on Twitter,

explaining that he's decided to take some time off from his various projects in order

as he put it to get healthy mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Among the projects Steve is stepping back from is this podcast, and we wish him well.

In his absence, I'm going to continue hosting Battleground while we figure out what's next

for the pot.

So we wish Steve and his family the best as he's taking some time to step back.
