A podcast project conceived to let me spend more time with interesting people than I would ever get to do on the radio.

And, well, this week's guest fits into that category approximately 20 times over.

Hanif Koreshi, welcome.

I mean, preparing for this interview was an odd, possibly unique experience because in a way

there are two subjects of the interview.

There is Hanif Koreshi and his body of work, his extraordinary body of work.

And then there is the writer of the new memoir who on Boxing Day of 2022 for people who don't know suffered an extraordinarily

life-changing injury which has rendered you tetraplegic which is why today you're in your

wheelchair and talking to me for the first time ever from a slightly higher perspective as a

subject of the interview than I've ever done.

Where do those two people meet?

Well, I remember being in the ICU in the Jemeli Hospital in Rome and I was well drugged up and certainly surprised and shocked about what had happened to me.

But I remember shouting at my partner Isabella that I wanted to write something.

And she sat at the end of my bed with her telephone and tapped into the phone my first blog. So I had a very strong desire to get back to work, but to communicate with the world and to speak about what happened to me to try and organise it.

And of course, because I can't use my hands, I had to make up the blog in my head and see it

visually the paragraphs piled on top of one another and try and remember it and then say it to her

she would then type it in her phone and then my other son carlo would put it on a platform
