Now, the government suffered defeat for the first time on its Brexit bill this week when the House of Lords backed an amendment, calling for EU citizens to be guaranteed the right to remain in Britain post-Brexit.

While that bill now goes back to the House of Commons, where the government are expected to try and overturn the amendment.
